We hire talented, experienced and knowledgeable doctors, technicians and customer service representatives. All staff participates in extensive training and continual education, and many staff achieve advanced certifications.

Paul Jensen, CVPM, SPHR joined AEVS in 2001 as Executive Director after serving many years in health care administration, providing leadership in several areas including organizational development, strategic planning, financial management and human resources administration. Paul is a graduate of American Animal Hospital Association’s Veterinary Management Institute. He received his Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) distinction in 2007 and his Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) certification in 2010. Paul is active in several local and national organizations including the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, Veterinary Study Groups, Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, Twin Cities Human Resources Association, and the International Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Society. When not spending time with his wife and three kids, Paul can be found on the golf course or horse track.

Kara Nelsen, DVM, MPH, Medical Leader has been with the AEVS team since 2001. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. Her interests include critical care, emergency medicine, radiology, and ultrasonography.

Sally Ryan, DVM is the Medical Director for AEVS. She has worked in this role since 2003 with the primary focus of team and organizational development. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine and has worked as a primary care veterinarian, shelter veterinarian and director, and an emergency clinician. Dr. Ryan enjoys learning about and teaching on topics related to practice management and leadership. She is a graduate of the Veterinary Management Institute and participated as a board member for AAHA. She is also a member of AVMA, VHMA, VSIPP, AAHA, MVMA and VECCS and has participated in numerous leadership positions in ministry. Dr. Ryan lives with her husband, two sons and her dog. She enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, hiking and interior decorating. She spends much of her time following her athletic sons to basketball and football games and watching ESPN!
